Dark melodic sounds, synthesizers, lyrics about the undead, the occult and parallel universes.

André Obin is proud to announce his new album Bridging the Void on Cleopatra Records, a label steeped in tradition of bringing the alternative to the forefront. Bridging the Void is an album three years in the making, during which time André was living near the Neponset Estuary in a surprisingly flora-and-fauna-filled area of Dorchester in Boston. Here he developed upon his dark synthpop and anglophilic-anorak-angst that his fans have adored for over a decade. In every fog-filled breath, there is a blurred metropolitan skyline beating in the distance. With nods to retro synthpop and post-punk, André has pulled from his many influences to deliver a modern electronic dreamscape fit for our ever-changing and sometimes volatile world.

Press recognition includes:

  • Obin deftly provides a chilling flip-side to the euphoric crescendos valued by his peers, turning synth-pop spectacle into a numbing agent of light and sound. - Pitchfork

  • Driving rhythms and boiling temperatures in the room-shaking brand of dance floor artistry. - Pop Matters

  • A hypnotic kaleidoscope of synths and hazy aesthetics. - Boston Globe

  • The synth visionary is one of the best arguments in favor of, and for the durability of the digital composition generation. - Impose

  • Eye for an Eye, slow and hefty and yet atmospheric, sounds like the work of someone armed with encyclopedic knowledge of his inspirations and the ability to be distinctive. - AllMusic

  • Unashamedly lush, soaring open-heartedness with sparkling synthesizer lines. Obin’s overlays deliver unrestrained joy. - Resident Advisor

  • André Obin, a local artist with international recognition in the underground electronic music scene, kicked things off with an immersive live set filled with beautiful melodies and a special energy... - WRBB 104.9 FM
